Peter Collins would like to thank all those who gave him their support in Thursday’s election. The election was a huge victory for Peter and the Conservatives in Blackpool. The result was:
Liberal Democrats 97
Peter Collins – Local Conservatives 977
Gordon Brown’s New Labour 448
BNP 218
UKIP 30
This gave Peter 529 majority and 55% on the vote. This was also a swing of just short of 40% to Peter and the Conservatives.

Today, with the sun beating down, we were out and about again, this time in Dinmore Avenue and other roads in our community. It was a really warm welcome on the doorstep too. It never ceases to amaze me how many people come over to have a chat – whether it’s about the Post Office or an issue in their road.
As well as the local team, we were also joined today by my good friends Paul Maynard and Ron Bell – who, fingers crossed, will be Blackpool’s new MPs sometime soon!
We also passed one of Grange Park’s Labour Councillors, looking a bit glum. Can’t think why! Not that our growing display of window posters helped his mood.
Our team also delivered the ‘In Touch’ newsletter, with a really hard-hitting leaflet highlighting Gordon Brown’s latest tax rises on drivers. As if the cost of living wasn’t bad enough.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who answered their doors and thanks, as ever, to everyone who is helping the campaign.

We’ve had over 300 surveys in now. Here I am going through the latest batch. A reply will be coming out shortly to local residents who have filled one in. Thank you all so much for your support, kind words, letters, e-mails, texts and for so many poster up.

I’ve been delighted by the number of replies that have come in from the survey that has been conducted by the Local Conservatives. The number has been brilliant, and the issues being raised are also good.
There is of course plenty of time to still get your replies in. I think it is also interesting to note that both my main opponents in this election have tried to copy me, what is it they say about imitation?? However, they do seem to be a pale reflection.
Next week I’ll give a reply to all the issues.

I’ve spent the last few nights knocking on doors. Last night for instance we did Newton Drive and around that area. I spent 30 minutes listening and talking to one lady who has concerns about parking on Newton Drive. These are the grass root issues I’ll try and tackle as a councillor.

I’ve been out and about today and am overwhelmed by the kind words people are saying to me. I’d like to thank each and everyone of you. This election is about people and the community we live and work in. It is not about politics and political ambition.

Hi up the list of complaints are, anti social behaviour, police activity and litter. Most people think the Chepstow Garden is good or excellent.
We’ll give a more detailed breakdown after more replies have been returned.
